
BRANDON, MB – The Brandon Bobcats greatly improved their chances of qualifying for the Canada West playoffs thanks to a 3-1 (24-26, 30-28, 25-23, 25-19) win over the visiting Alberta Pandas.
Meaghan Robertson led the way for the Bobcats with 15 kills on 23 swings (.565 hitting percentage), while Victoria Dakin notched 10 kills and 14 digs.
Four Pandas finished with at least 10 kills, as Whitney Matheson finished with 14, Alena Omelchenko picked up 13, and Alyssa Jones and Jaki Ellis each contributed 10 kills.
The win improves Brandon’s record to 9-10, while the Pandas fall to 13-6. The ‘Cats now remain tied with Thompson Rivers, who are also 9-10 thanks to a win over UBCO Friday.
The Bobcats and WolfPack are tied for the final Canada West playoff spot heading into the final regular season matches Saturday.
The Bobcats and Pandas meet again at 6:00 pm on Saturday in Brandon.
