BRANDON, MB – The Brandon Bobcats took the first match of the weekend series against the UBCO Heat in convincing fashion. The Heat battled in the third, but the Bobcats proved to be much down the stretch ending the contest on a 4-1 run.
Jaryn Ruether led the way for the Bobcats with 12 kills to go along with 10 digs. Chloe Reimer had a match-high 16 digs, and rookie Shanlee McLennan had 13 digs.
Alex Basso had a team-high 10 kills for the Heat while Kailin Jones added 10 digs.
The win give the Bobcats a five-match winning streak and improves their record to 7-6. The loss ss UBCO’s sixth in a row and the now sit with a record of 2-9. The two teams will meet again in the second-half of the weekend series Saturday night in Brandon at 6:00 pm.
