Winnipeg, MB – A close contest ended in a two-point victory for the Winnipeg Wesmen over the Brandon Bobcats in a pre-season match-up. The two teams battled till the final seconds, with Winnipeg coming away with a 81-79 victory.

Kyle Vince led Brandon with 21 points, including six-three pointers. Ali Mounir had 11 and Ilarion Bonhomme had 10. Jordan Reaves hauled in a game high 12 rebounds.

The teams shot the lights out in a fast paced opening ten minutes with Brandon holding a slim 27-24 lead. The Wesmen had a strong second quarter outscoring Brandon 18-14 to take a 42-41 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Both teams opened the second half taking turns scoring and after thirty minutes the game was still close by a score of 66-65 in Winnipeg’s favor.

In the late stages of the fourth quarter Brandon held a late 79-75 lead when Wesmen guard Travis Krahn hit a three-pointer with 40 seconds left to cut Brandon’s lead to 79-78. Brown hit a shot with 17 seconds followed by a McNee free throw to make the final score 81-79.

The Bobcats will wrap up their pre-season schedule when they host the Minot State – Bottineau Lumberjacks on October 31.
