WINNIPEG, MB – Fifth year forward Kyle Vince scored a game high 25 points to lead the Brandon Bobcats to a 78-52 victory over the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves in the opening draw of the University Draw of the 2011 Coca Cola Wesmen Classic.
Vince finished the contest with six-three pointers and led the team in steals with three. Emerick Ravier added 16 for the Bobcats. Francis Rowe led the Timberwolves with 21 points and Jose Araujo added 10. After a close opening quarter Brandon outscored their opponents 16-8 in the second to open up a 31-20 lead at halftime.
The Bobcats kept the Timberwolves off balance in the second half and were deadly from the field connecting on 19-of-31 (61%) from the field. Brandon will move onto the semi final round Thursday night at 8:30 p.m.and face the winner of the Minot State/UBC Okanagan contest. UNBC will face the loser in the consolation semi finals Thursday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
