
KELOWNA, BC – The Brandon Bobcats defeated the UBC Okanagan Heat 81-68 on Saturday evening. Despite an initial lead by the Heat, the Bobcats maintained pressure against the home team and prevailed in the end.
First-year forward Ali Mounir Benadbelhak (Montreal, QC) aided the Bobcat’s efforts by scoring 21 points, leading the way for Brandon in the game, while Ravier finished with 20 on the night. Guard Ilarion Bonhomme led the team with nine rebounds.
For the Heat, third-year guard Yassine Ghomariwas once again the team’s top point-getter, with 26, going 10-10 from the charity stripe. Fellow third year guard Iain Con was big on the glass, leading the team with six rebounds.
The Heat fall to 1-5, while the Bobcats improve to 3-5. As this was the last game before the winter break, both teams will resume play again in January. The Heat will host Manitoba on January 6th. The Bobcats will go on to play Regina in Brandon on January 6th.
