
The Bobcats men’s volleyball team got their first win of the season on Friday night, dropping the Winnipeg Wesmen 3-1 (26-28, 25-13, 25-18, 25-19) in their 2011 home-opener.
The Bobcats dropped a tight first set, but then didn’t look back winning the next three convincingly.
Led by Ben Glue’s match-high 21 kills, the Bobcats hit .339 as a team, as opposed to Thursday night where they hit just .148. The Bobcats also got a big contribution from starting setter Garrett Popplestone who finished with 53 assists and 10 digs. The ‘Cats were also strong on the defensive side, getting 12 digs from Scott Neufeld and Paul Robidoux (who also had 15 kills).
The win improves the Bobcats record to 1-3, while the loss drops Winnipeg to 1-3 also. Up next for the Bobcats is a weekend home series against the Trinity Western Spartans.
