Bobcat Men's Basketball: 82

The 2011 season opener for the Brandon Bobcats and Calgary Dinos was an interesting affair, highlighted by numerous shifts in momentum and a delay caused by a power outage. The Bobcats were able to come away with the win however, out-gunning the Dinos down the stretch for a 85-72 win.

A power outage that struck numerous neighbourhoods in Brandon caused a 10 minute delay with just over 2 minutes left in the first half. The Dinos then ended the second quarter on an 8-2 run to take a 39-27 lead into the break.

The Bobcats answered back in the second half, out-scoring the Dinos 55-36. The ‘Cats were paced by Emerick Ravier’s game-high 31 points, on 11 for 15 shooting from the floor. In his first game in CIS, rookie guard Ilarion Bonhomme contributed 14 points to go with seven assists.

Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson finished with a double-double for the Dinos (18 points, 11 rebounds), while Matt Letkeman finished one point shy of a double-double (nine points, 10 rebounds).

The two teams will meet again Sunday at 6:00 pm in the BU Gymnasium.
