Despite a solid team effort the Bobcats women’s volleyball team dropped their season opener to the University of Manitoba Bisons 3-1 (16-25, 25-23, 25-22, 31-29). The Bobcats extended the fourth set five times before the Bisons put it away.
Leading the way for the Bobcats was fifth-year left-side Jaryn Ruether with 18 kills and 16 digs. Second-year left-side Tori Dakin and middle Meaghan Robertson each added 13 kills. Kellie Baker had 52 assists in her first CIS start at setter.
The two teams will meet again Saturday night at 6:00 pm at the Investors Group Athletic Centre at the University of Manitoba.
