The Brandon Bobcats women’s basketball team rounded out the CMU Holiday Inn Winnipeg Airport West Tournament with a big 68-39 win over the Red River College Rebels.
The win improved the Bobcats pre-season record to 3-0 and gave them the tournament title.
Two Bobcats finished with double-doubles. Rookie forward Aimee Johnston led the way with 18 points and 16 rebounds while Bonnyville, Alberta product Jaynell Gillett finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bobcats will travel south of the border for a pair of exhibition games against Mayville State University on October 21 & 22 before starting the regular season at home against Calgary on November 5.
